About Osaka's
Owner Koji Tamura first dreamed of bringing the Japanese comfort food and dining experience to the United States while studying engineering in Los Angeles in 1972. One day, his classmates asked him to cook authentic Japanese food, and he decided to make okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake that is famous in Osaka and the Kansai region. It was a huge hit, but okonomiyaki had not been getting the international acclaim it deserved, so his wife Mari and him reinvented the dish into something that could be tried and enjoyed more casually, called Osaka Burger.
In 2014, before they came to the states, Mari opened a shop in Japan to test and establish their "Osaka Burger" concept, and it was an instant success. After waiting for Koji to retire from his 42-year career, Mari and two chefs from Osaka moved to Boulder to open Osaka's restaurant. Besides traditional okonomiyaki and Osaka Burger, Osaka also serves a variety of authentic Japanese cuisines. Click here to look at our menu.
(Update: Due to our kitchen capacity and operations, we only serve Osaka Burger on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays)
